Sick of your old clothes? Want to get them off your hands and get some new-to-you pieces?
Come check out the Fall Clothing Swap! We’ll be running out of the Student Lounge. Bring in your old clothes and take some new ones.
All leftover pieces will be sorted. Ripped and stained items will be taken to Value Village for recycling, items in good condition will go to the Yonge Street Mission’s store Double Take.

- 10. Museum Talks: Museums and The Environment – March 1

This panel engages in discussions about the multiple communities and practices which make up the Toronto Zoo.
Cynthia Shipley will discuss collaboration in support of conservation, touching on partnerships with programs such as Crime Stoppers, Asian Carp, Adopt-an-Animal, and the giant panda program.
Mary Kate Whibbs will discuss the growth and implementation of the Toronto Zoo’s Great Lakes Program in the context of partnership relations including those with sister institutions and other NGOs, government partners and individual support.
Katherine Wright will provide insight into three of Toronto Zoo’s behind-the-scene conservation programs: captive breeding and reintroduction for the black-footed ferret and Vancouver Island marmot, and head-start and reintroduction for the Blanding’s turtle.
Panel discussant, Matthew Brower, is an Assistant Professor of Museum Studies in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto.

Digital Tattoo is a collaborative project between the University of British Columbia Library and the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre Learning Commons, along with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information. The goal of Digital Tattoo is to encourage students to think about digital identity, question what it means to be a digital citizen, and engage in conversations around digital issues. We are currently accepting blog-style written submissions for a broad student audience. This is a great opportunity to have work published within a professional community. Entries should be between 400 and 600 words, covering topics such as
- Our Data: surveillance, privacy, uses.
- Digital Citizenship: access, freedom and responsibility
- Privacy on the Internet: expectations, rights, and responsibilities
- Sharing and re-using: ethics, ownership, copyright.

- Varsity Referendum for Levy Fee

Next week The Varsity (UofT student newspaper circa 1880) is hosting a referendum to include grad students in its membership. The Varsity publishes weekly, with 20,000 copies distributed across the 3 campuses. There is also a magazine published each semester, Futures.
If passed, grads can contribute articles to & work for the Varsity. The levy fee will be $0.80 per semester.
MISC wholeheartedly supports this referendum, as it will allow iStudents to better engage with the wider U of T community & obtain campus employment. Working for the Varsity includes opportunities as contributors, graphic designers, editors, advertising executives and web designers.
Currently, grad students cannot be hired as staff, sit on the Board of Directors, nor contribute more than 2 articles yearly with the paper. As such, articles featuring grads are written by undergrads. If passed, all opportunities to contribute will be open to grads.
We encourage you to exercise your democratic right. From February 28 to March 2nd, you can vote online at voting.utoronto.ca. If you have any questions/comments, please contact Emma Findlay-White at emma@thevarsity.ca.
