Professional Development
Helping students form professional skills and to feel career ready by the time they graduate.
The Professional Development Committee is responsible for providing events and workshops that help students form professional skills and to feel career ready by the time they graduate.
They engage and liaise with students and faculty around career and professional development opportunities such as organizing job talks or career-related panels. Our biggest event is the annual Employer Showcase which is held every January. See below for a full list of our past and upcoming events.
Upper Year Co-Chair: Savannah Li
Savannah is entering her second year studying Knowledge Management and Information Management. She moved from Vancouver to Toronto in 2019. She is excited about continuing working with her peers and enable them to make the most of their professional development at iSchool, U of T.
In her role as the Upper Year Professional Development Co-Chair, Savannah believes that future career success is greatly influenced by the opportunity for her fellow students to take part in experiential learning, where they practice, learn, cultivate and reflect on essential competencies.
Savannah’s personal interests including Japanese animation, mindfulness, and well-being. When not on campus working or studying, you would find her exploring food places around GTA, doing yoga, or swimming.

First Year Co-Chair: Julia Geisler
Julia is a first-year User Experience Design student. She graduated in 2016 from Pace University in NYC with a degree in Marketing and has spent the past few years handling a range of responsibilities at a wine media company. Having experience both as an interviewee and interviewer, she understands the importance for students to have opportunities to cultivate their skillsets in order to remain competitive not only as job seekers, but in their chosen careers as well. She’s excited to help her fellow MI students grow their networks and add to their marketable skills as the Professional Development Committee Co-Chair!
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, fiddling around in Adobe, dreaming up travel ideas, and supporting Eintracht Frankfurt, her favorite football team.
