Duncan Broom ()
Duncan is a part-time MI student in his 3rd year of study – currently in the Knowledge Management and Information Management concentration, and is eager to help create stronger links (in person, electronic, and in between) within the iSchool community as the MISC Webmaster and as chair of the Part-Time Students Working Group.
Originally from the Toronto-area, Duncan spent some time in Ottawa while he completed a Bachelor of International Business at Carleton University. As part of that degree, he lived in Japan for a year in order to complete a minor in Japanese (which he has subsequently forgotten). Duncan has spent the last 8 years working in Human Resources (HR). He is broadly interested in HR-related information problem domains as well as how “technology skill” makes its way into job descriptions.
Duncan keeps fairly active with a number of community organizations, but also is embarrassed to admit he is a content junkie, which Netflix has only made worse. He's looking forward to spending a more time on campus this year, to broaden his network beyond the "HR" world.
