Lily Ren (Upper Year Academic Affairs Officer)

Lily is a second-year MI candidate in the Library and Information Science concentration. She serves as the Upper Year Academic Affairs Officer with numerous past experiences serving on student associations at the University of Toronto. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in 2016 with a double major in Book and Media Studies and Health Studies, and a minor in Human Geography at UofT. As a member of MISC, she hopes to strengthen the student community and facilitate communication between students, faculty, and staff enduring that each student’s experience at the iSchool is enjoyable and edifying. In her spare time, Lily enjoys playing sports, hiking, kayaking, traveling and, of course, eating her heart’s desire of pizzas, pastas, and gelati. Hugh Samson (First Year Academic Affairs Officer)

Hugh is a first-year Master of Information student who will complete a concentration in Library and Information Science as well as a thesis. He serves as First-Year Academic Affairs Officer, having previously served in the role of Graduate Education Faculty Council Representative at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Prior to his arrival at the University of Toronto, Hugh completed undergraduate studies in English and Classics, as well as undergraduate and graduate studies in Education. Throughout the course of his studies Hugh has had the opportunity to offer guidance and support to his fellow students in the areas of communication, personal effectiveness, and the development of research-related skills, and he would be more than happy to offer you support in any or all of these areas as well.
